It is an unfortunate situation because Greece was the weakest link and thus the first to be targeted in a global financial system, or at least a Eurozone non-union that needed to change a few things around in order for it to become more sustainable. (For more debate on the EZ from real pundits please refer to Yanis Varoufakis’ blog- should be a good starting point). In that sense the “hole” was already there and mind you it is very big and very deep, but boy did we make sure that we were the first ones to go head first into that hole.
I am watching with true fascination the events unfolding before our eyes. Gone are the days where you would hear about the latest war events from your favorite TV channel. These days you can follow @operation_anon on twitter calling you to “battle”, battle being downloading LOIC from sourgeforce.net and botnet DDOS attacking Mastercard, Visa and the like.
Only a mere thousand of an alleged 260k cables being under the possesion of wikileaks has been released. So far so good, nothing too major – maybe only king Abdullah (of Saudi Arabia) asking the US to go on war with Iran. The spasmodic panic reactions from Governments and Corporations alike are quite worrying. As is the zeal with which Assange is being pursued by the swedish government over the rape case.
Pedro Pires is a Portuguese artist, Central Saint Martin’s graduate, living in London. When I first met him, I had no idea of what he was capable of. After taking a voyage de plaisir in Lisbon, his hometown and randomly getting hold of a tube ticket that was exhibiting his work as well as seeing his work at Parque das Nações it became apparent to me that Pedro possibly did not just think that art was meant just for galleries and private collections. I recently stumbled upon some of his work at the Old Street tube station.
Not being technically qualified to criticise art myself, but massively interested in the use of public space and of course forms of promotion, I thought I’d ask Pedro a couple of questions that I thought would be relevant.

Karamits.com is an ever evolving project. In its current form it showcases some of my work and projects and hosts my more often than not incoherent thoughts on various subjects.
My name is Giorgos Karamitsos, I am spending my time between Athens and London. I mostly work as a marketing consultant.

Why Greece you ask? Because of my heritage I feel like I want to help. In case you have been living under a stone, the Greek economy is imploding. What Greek businesses desperately need is to become more extrovert and here’s where I believe we can help.
